Univah SDK

Announcing the Univah Film Engine SDK: Powerful, Lightweight, Real-Time Graphics Infrastructure for Developers

Today, we are announcing the development of The Univah Film Engine SDK™—a dedicated C++/OpenGL infrastructure designed to give developers high-performance, real-time rendering and signed distance field (SDF) math without the footprint, bloat, or licensing constraints of traditional game engines.

The Problem with Existing Render Engines

Developers building visual software, interactive cinematic tools, and specialized 3D applications face a systemic bottleneck:

  1. Monolithic Bloat: Legacy game engines like Unreal require hundreds of gigabytes of overhead, extremely long download times, long-winded project workflows, discouragingly long learning curves, and heavy editor environments for simple runtime tasks. A simple new scene in Unreal Engine could take over 20 minutes to load.
  2. Cloud & Token Overhead: Alternative AI generation pipelines introduce high token costs, network reliance, and unpredictable outputs.
  3. Complex Learning Curves: Traditional graphics pipelines require months to years of low-level graphics setup to achieve production-grade 60+ FPS viewport performance on mid-tier hardware.

Core Benefits of the Univah SDK

The Univah SDK decouples our proprietary rendering core into a clean, embeddable C++ API designed for rapid deployment across custom software.

1. Zero Cloud Dependency & Native Execution

  • 100% Local Performance: Runs deterministically on local hardware, from integrated graphics (Intel UHD 770+) to high-end discrete GPUs.
  • No Server Costs: Zero reliance on external render farms or remote AI server infrastructure.
  • Minimal Footprint: Native C++ binary integration without multi-gigabyte engine runtimes.

2. Instant Real-Time Visuals (Final Pixel Quality)

  • Real-time 8K-capable viewport rendering powered by native OpenGL 4.6, Vulkan, DirectX and SDF architecture.
  • Immediate, final-pixel feedback without offline frame-baking or multi-hour render queues.
  • Direct parametric control over materials, physics, and lighting primitives.

3. Embeddable Architecture

  • Headless or Custom Viewports: Bind the rendering context directly into native desktop applications, specialized tools, or tablet interfaces.
  • Clean API Surface: Low-friction C++ headers (.h) allow developers to spin up high-velocity viewports and custom model inspectors (e.g., FBX/OBJ viewers) in days rather than months.

Developer Ecosystem & Licensing Model

The Univah SDK will ship under two licenses:

  • Community Tier: Free access for students, researchers, indie tool smiths, and non-commercial developers.
  • Commercial Enterprise Tier: A straightforward license for commercial software built on the Univah SDK.

Roadmap & Availability

Development is actively underway to decouple the core API layer from the standalone Univah Pro application shell.

Our official GitHub repository will launch soon, featuring:

  • Pre-compiled static/dynamic C++ libraries (.lib / .dll).
  • Comprehensive C++ header files and CMake build configurations.
  • Drop-in sample applications (including a lightweight real-time physics and asset inspector).
